The old days!! I used to join every music site, I could find, hey but doing that paid off!! I had a lot of number 1 hits on their charts, that was apart from

the top twenty ones. This was/still is ,under my musician name of Paul Grimwood. There were quite a few major highlights. One day I was searching

the internet to see if I could find music by Bob Welch. He used to be in a band, I am sure most of you will know called FLEETWOOD MAC!!

This photograph was taken circa 1973.

I had always liked his music, when he was the band .He also had 8 top ten solo hits on the main American music chart

I noticed he was on a site called Audiocandy (which is sadly, no longer running),so I thought to myself ..I will join this site!!Bob was thee main man on there.I uploaded

four of my songs on there,in different genre charts.About ten days later I decided to check my chart positions, and nearly fell sideways off my computer chair!!

I was number one!!Bob was number two!!It was at that moment ,I realised what an achievement it was!!I had beaten a guy who

used to be in FLEETWOOD MAC in a music chart!! I quickly ran off 25 copies of the page on my printer,so that if anyone did not believe

me in the future..I had proof!!Here it is..

I remember Bob messaging me ,and saying "I love your song NO BEAUTY FADING....but who are you!!" Sadly Bob Welch is longer with us. R I P Bob,you were one of the best.

There is a beautiful true story to my song ,and in the context of what you have read so far, might find this next part unbelievable..but it is true!! I would like to keep my friends name confidential,so I will refer to her as "Jane" .I believe this is a gentlemanly thing to do.

A long time ago,my "adopted" family spent the summer holidays in London. So the story began..

When I was 11 years old,I made friends with the daughter of a man ,who owned the local corner shop. The girl was 13, and very pretty.

We used to run about together all over London. In those days, London was a much safer place. They were wonderful, innocent times.

I remember us skimming stones across the Serpentine.

We also skimmed stones across the River Thames and I have got to say. she was far better than me!!

We also loved the music of those days, and we would often spend time singing along to the songs we liked.

One of our favourite places was Greenwich Park. For those who have never been there..well it has an atmosphere ,that is sort of unique. We ran

riot around there!!

One day at Greenwich Park I said to Jane "One day, I am going to write a song for you and it will get to number one in the charts !! Bear in

mind at that time,I could neither play a musical instrument, let alone write a song!!I remember her smiling and saying "Yes..and when

you do ,we can meet back here and you can play it for me.A few months later, sadly,my "adopted" parents moved further away from London ,and

also did not want to go to London anymore, due to family arguments.Jane and me lost contact with each other..

Hey, but..I kept my promise.A long, long time after ,I wrote NO BEAUTY FADING for Jane...and it got to number one!!

Thank you for reading  - Paul
